The La Sportiva Olympus Mons Cube is an ultra-technical double mountaineering boot developed for Himalayan technical mountaineering, Arctic crossings, and expeditions in extremely cold environments. Designed to deliver warmth, low weight, water repellence, safety, and a quick fit, it brings together advanced footwear technologies in a highly specialized boot for demanding high-altitude and cold-weather objectives.
Made entirely in Ziano di Fiemme in the Dolomites, the Olympus Mons Cube features a streamlined external profile and reduced weight compared with its predecessor. It is designed as a dual thermal high-mountaineering boot while maintaining exceptionally contained external volumes. Its construction combines a seamless gaiter, double BOA® Fit System, removable thermal bootie, and an insulating sole package to provide protection and performance in extreme conditions.

Built for Extreme Cold and Technical Mountaineering
The La Sportiva Olympus Mons Cube is designed for highly demanding mountaineering objectives where warmth, protection, and weight are critical considerations. Its dual-boot construction provides thermal insulation for extremely cold environments while maintaining a streamlined profile for technical movement.
The boot’s combination of advanced materials and construction technologies is aimed at reducing unnecessary weight without compromising the protective structure required for high-altitude and cold-weather mountaineering.
Water-Repellent Seamless Gaiter
The external gaiter combines water-repellent stretch Cordura® with a highly abrasion-resistant fabric. La Sportiva’s UltraSound Welding technology joins the materials without conventional stitching, creating a clean external construction.
Internal heat sealing and an inner water-repellent gusset provide additional protection around the gaiter. The full-length Corner Zip™ runs along the outside of the gaiter, allowing it to open widely and providing direct access to the inner shell.
Double BOA® Fit System
The inner shell uses a Double BOA® Fit System, with separate adjustment for the upper and lower sections. This allows differentiated tension regulation and helps users achieve a more precise fit.
The system is designed to be operated while wearing gloves, making it particularly practical for use in cold and demanding environments where removing gloves for footwear adjustment can be inconvenient.
Removable Thermal Double Bootie
The Olympus Mons Cube features a removable double bootie designed to provide thermal insulation while making the boot easier to manage at base camp.
The high-cut outer layer uses 6 mm PE + EVA Single Density construction and incorporates a Flex Zone with a double hook-and-loop closure. The low-cut inner layer uses 4 mm PE + EVA Single Density.
Because the bootie can be removed, it can also be dried separately, helping speed up the drying process during extended expeditions.
Advanced Thermal Insulation
Thermal performance is supported by the boot’s multi-layer construction. The inner shell combines high-tenacity Nylon with polyethylene materials of different densities and a thermo-reflective aluminium layer.
The insole incorporates 3 mm insulating carbon HoneyComb together with 3 mm Gold Insulation Aerogel by PrimaLoft®, providing another layer of insulation within the footwear system.
Lightweight Vibram® Sole Construction
The Olympus Mons Cube uses a combination of Vibram® Litebase and Vibram® MorFlex® expanded EVA. This construction is designed to reduce weight while providing abrasion resistance and thermal insulation.
The midsole features 2 mm TPU polyurethane with differentiated thickness at the toe and heel for crampon attachment. A front insert is also incorporated for compatibility with tech skialp bindings.
